Satori School Summer Camp - Exploring the Four Elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air
Description: Join us for unique, one-week adventures focusing on the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air. Campers ages 3 years through 3rd grade (for the ’20-’21 school year) will explore, conduct experiments, and be active participants in hands-on learning activities while diving deep into the four elements. Water play will be incorporated in daily activities. Campers will also spend time in the Evergreen Project, our outdoor experiential-based, nature-oriented classroom with goats, chicken, and more! Before and after camp care is available. We also have a nap option for our youngest campers.
Satori School serves a diverse population of students ages 2 ½ through 8th grade. We believe in creating an engaging environment for creative and inquisitive children with a focus on The Three C's: Community, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.
What’s planned for each day of camp?
Monday - WATER Element Day
We are kicking off Monday with a splash! Join us as we conduct experiments to understand the properties and uses of water, dive into the water cycle and learn how vitally important water is to all living things. We will use water to help us explore the states of matter and we will create artistic masterpieces using water and water-based materials.
Tuesday - EARTH Element Day
On Tuesday we will dig into summer with an exploration and celebration of Earth! We will look at how our Earth fits into the universe and examine the planet we call home, learn about Earth’s biomes and terrain and our place in the world. And we will get our hands dirty and learn about archaeological excavation.
Wednesday - FIRE Element Day
Things will really heat up on Wednesday as we learn about the uses and importance of fire! We will perform experiments to help us understand the properties of fire and we’ll learn how we use it in our everyday lives. We’ll put our knowledge of fire to good use by cooking dishes to share and enjoy with our friends, learning about fireworks and campfire BBQs.
Thursday - AIR Element Day
On Thursday we will have a blast learning about the air above and around us and conducting experiments using the power of air. We will talk about how the seasons work, and how in Tucson we are lucky to have five seasons instead of only four. We will take the opportunity to explore this fascinating fifth season, the monsoon, and look at all the life it brings to the desert.
Friday - EVERYTHING Element Day
On Friday we will learn about all the elements and recap what we learned throughout the week!
